Founder / Teaching Artist

Meet Kelsey

Kelsey Billiot is a dance artist, teaching artist, and creative educator based in Lafayette, Louisiana. She holds a BFA in Dance and has spent over a decade working at the intersection of movement, education, and healing. Her work is grounded in the belief that the body is a vital source of connection, clarity, and regulation.

She is the founder of Breathe & Move, a professional development and curriculum model that brings movement and mindfulness into elementary classrooms. Through nervous system tools, creative play, and embodied strategies, her work helps both teachers and students stay grounded and engaged.

Kelsey leads school-based workshops, educator trainings, and classroom residencies across South Louisiana. She partners with programs like PACE and the Teaching Artist Program (TAP) and designs custom offerings through grants and school collaborations. Her sessions support PreK through 5th grade and center on movement-integrated learning, inclusive practices, and trauma-informed classroom tools. She is especially committed to supporting new teachers and building inclusive environments for students with disabilities.

She is also the founder and artistic director of Space Lafayette, an artisan dance company known for intimate, site-specific performances in homes and alternative venues. Since 2018, Kelsey has produced seven evening-length shows and several dance films that explore personal story, archetypes, and the emotional terrain of women’s lives.

Whether she’s guiding teachers, choreographing in a living room, or planting herbs in a school garden, Kelsey’s work invites others to move with intention and live with presence.
